We Are The Champions!

On Tuesday the 4th August 2009 the under 55 kg boys travelled to Cornwall Park all excited and geared up to represent our school in the Eastern Zone Rugby League Tournament.

The result of our first game was 4-12 to Farmcove Intermediate. Even though we lost, we persisted and won our second game against Remuera Intermediate 20-0. We held our heads up high when we came across the challenging Howick Intermediate and we also won that game 12-4.

When we made the semi finals, we focused our minds, determined to win the next game. It was a close game but sadly for them we won 20-12. The boys cheered us on as we battled our way to the finals. This was an easy game and we won 46-0. Winning the finals was the ultimate glory for us.

Our motto for that day was “to hammer our opponents” and this we did.We would like to thank our coach for coaching our team, all the boys for their tremendous play and our loyal supporters.

What I like about reading this report is that you lost the first game and you obviously improved a lot following that! It's not easy at the Eastern Zone tournament as there can be some very tough teams but I am sure that you are pleased with the result and I am sure that you will be excited about travelling to the Auckland Champion of Champions Finals at Cornwall Park! I was at Tamaki Intermediate for six years and we only went in Under 55kg League to the finals once so its a great achievement for you Boys to make that final.
