Sharma's Grandparents Letter

Dear Mrs Baker

I know you have probably heard this plenty of times but I think I can convince you that my Grandad is the best in the whole wide world.

Sadly my papa lost his wife in 2007 of sickness and old age which means he is a widower. He misses his wife but still lives life to the fullest. Even though he's an old man, he gardens, cooks cleans and looks after me because I now live with him to keep him company.

To me my grandparents are the strongest people in the world and without them life wouldn't be the way it is right now. My papa is very lonely but when he has all his grandchildren around him he knows he's loved and there are people who care.

Despite the fact that my papa lost his wife and I lost my nan and we knew no one could take her place, and that a big part of our life has changed, we stay strong and know that she is in a better place. We keep a shrine in our house to remember my nan and celebrate all the good memories we have had together and although we all mourn her death we all also celebrate her life.

My grandparents were a wish come true and are the best gift a girl could have and I love them with all my heart.

Amazing Holiday Highlights!!

Sunny Day At HOYTS!!

During the holidays I spent the sunny afternoon with my cousin at HOYTS Sylvia Park watching the newly released, exciting and exhilarating movie Ice Age 3. It was a very funny movie but also attention grabbing with heaps of action, funny characters and dinosaurs running everywhere trying to eat the animals. I really liked all the sound effects because it made the movie very mysterious and spooky. Luckily I behaved because this was a treat from my grandparents.

The U19 World Basketball Championships

On Thursday 2^nd July some of the chosen year 8’s went to the North Shore Stadium to watch U.S.A vs. Iran at the under 19 World Championships.

We arrived at the stadium at 9.30. The game hadn’t started yet so we waited outside for a little while and then we went in. When we got inside it was a massive stadium. We waited for the game to start. Before the game started we had to stand up and support the national anthem of both teams. The game finally started and Iran scored a try, then U.S.A. At half time Iran was down 28-56. We had something to eat and Mr Fatialofa bought us some chips while we were waiting. The second half was pretty intense with Iran slowly catching up but U.S.A managed to hold on and win 106-54. We were very happy because we were supporting them. After the game had finished we went and did some basketball games with the staff. We didn’t stay very long because Miss Tauri had arrived to pick us up. So we said thank you to everyone and then hopped in the van and headed back to school.

Special thanks go out to Miss Waetford and our teachers for choosing us and Mr Fatialofa, Miss Tauri and Miss Gaun for getting us there and back safely.

WORLD CONFLICT!!

Did World War 2 open a world of good or bad?

Why did the war even start?
The battle of Gallipoli was a frontline between the allied forces and the Ottoman which world war 1 started on April 25th, 1915 and ended on January 1916.This caused the death of 3,000,000 soldiers and death of both Ottomans and allied forces.

How did it affect others?
In fact if America hadn't joined or took part in the war we would be speaking German right now!!

How was the conflict resolved?
It was very harsh because billions of dollars had to be paid to the allies to stop their bad behaviour. Some people thought it was wrong. It caused economic depression which made Germany resent the allied countries. Hitler and the Nazis wanted to get back their land that they wanted and so the decided to peace it out once and for all.

War in The Middle East

Did you know that Arabs have been killing Jews for the past 100 years just so that they would stay off their land even though it was defined as a future Jewish state by the League of Nations in 1920....

The war in the Middle East took place in Israel on the outside of Saudi Arabia.

The causes of the war between the Arabs and the Jews is the fact that no Arabs were willing to let any Jews live on their country. So to make sure no Jews came to their country the Arabs have been killing any Jews that set foot on their land. They kept doing it for about 100 years

Food Technology Amazing Pizzas

On Tuesday 24th of March, Room 15 girls had technology. Our task was to make our very own pizza. We named our pizza MiZZean Pizza.
Ingredients
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/4 tsp of salt
2 tbsp of milk
2 tbsp of oil.

Method
1.First we had to sift all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
2.Then we had to combine the dry ingredients and the milk.
3.We kneaded together a dough to make the base for the pizza.
4.We shaped the dough and then placed it on a cold greased tray.
5.We spread a little oil and milk over the pizza.
6.We spread tomato paste on it, and added the toppings
7.We used bacon, onions, capsicum and then grated cheese.

The cheese melted and smelt scrumptious. We cut it into even pieces and shared it in the group. We enjoyed our pizza creation. Mama Mia!
