U45kg Boys Rugby

On Tuesday the 4th of August 2009 the rugby players settled down in the hall waiting for our uniforms and our coaches to get us organised to compete in the Eastern Zone Rugby League Tournament.

We caught the bus to Cornwall Park. On our arrival we settled down on the field, eager to play. The first team we challenged was Farm Cove. We had to play them 3 times. We did a little State of Origin. We were New South Wales and they were Queensland. They were pretty hard but of course we won 8-4.

The game had just finished and the team was practising for the next game. We stopped to have morning tea while we watched the under 55kg boys play.

Then we left for our next game. Ten minutes later we had our second game. We were going to thrash them 45-0 but we didn’t. They kicked the ball first and it went to Beau dashed frantically, ran straight up and caught the ball... Casey passed the ball to Christopher and then he stepped and bumbed one of them and scored a try from half back. It was a tremendous game and Farmcove had improved a lot and made the final score 8 all. But the rules say if it’s a draw, the first team to get a try at the beginning of the game wins, so we won again.

Our last game was an easy game because we gave it our all. We had another hard game but we won again 16-4. We’d like to thank the under45 kg team for doing their best and also our coaches for coaching us.

How To Play Touch

For Procedure Writing this term Room15 students wrote instructions for recipes and games. We would like to share some of our writing.

Introduction

Playing touch is a excellent way to start your summer evening. It’s enjoyable and also helps you exercise!

Equipment

A rugby ball

4 Cones

2 Equal Teams

20 Squared Metres

A Referee

A Timer!

Rules

*No cheating!

*Not allowed to kick only on 5th and final.

*If you go out on the field space, you give the ball to the opposite team.

Method

1. First the team with the ball kicks of or either taps and run it.

2. Next the other team tries to keep touching the opposing team person to prevent a goal.

3. When touched 4 times, then the referee calls out 5th and final!

4.The other team can kick the ball because if touched they have to give the ball to the other team.

5. Keep playing until the time has finished!

Conclusion

Don’t play with no referee or 1 team might cheat!

Corporal punishment Should Not Be Reintroduced To NZ Schools

I believe that corporal punishment should not be reintroduced to NZ schools. This is far from expected. There are many points why it should not be reintroduced.

The first point is that if corporal punishment is reintroduced, children will constantly have nightmares about getting smacked or going to school. They can wake up ether yelling or crying.

I also believe that children will automatically wag and miss out on education caused by the amount of smacks they get from the teacher.

My third point is that nowadays children get angry fast and if they get smacked they will probably retaliate. An example of this is the Asian student who stabbed the teacher and the teacher only harassed him verbally. I think some will stab the teacher if smacked, some will punch back and some will tell on the teacher.

That’s why I strongly believe that corporal punishment should not be reintroduced to N.Z schools.
