How to make a Jar Compass

Room One made a jar compass. To make this at home you need one needle, cardboard, string, one jar, one stick or pencil, one magnet and one compass. The experiment works beacuse the Earth is a giant magnet. The needle once magnetised is attracted to the North and South poles.
