Students and members of the staff at Tamaki Intermediate school dressed up in loud shirts on 19th September 2008 to bring about awareness of the hearing impaired people and their needs. Not only were we dressed in brightly coloured shirts, we wore accessories that made us look great! We wore ear muffs to experience a soundless world around us. We appreciated our sense of hearing. We also used sign language that day to understand how the hearing and speech impaired people go about their normal lives. All of us who dressed outrageously donated a gold coin towards buying more hearing devices for the hearing impaired people. Thanks to Ms Walley and Ms Tauri, Room 1 won the prize for best participation and cute and loud shirts.
